WhatsApp: An Introduction to WhatsApp

WhatsApp was started to send messages like SMS. It can now send many types of media, such as text, photos, videos, documents and voice and video calls. You sometimes share some of your special and personal moments on whatsapp and so this app is secured by whatsapp with end-to-end encryption feature. This means that no one but the sender and the recipient can read or view the messages, not even WhatsApp. With the help of WhatsApp, people can stay in touch with each other in every corner of the world without any problem.

WhatsApp can be installed for free from Play Store. WhatsApp provides a secure and reliable feature for easy messaging and calling. It is available on phones in the world.

In this chapter, I have presented the information required while using WhatsApp on Smartphone or Computer.

How to download and install WhatsApp?

WhatsApp can be used by installing on Android phone. I have presented the following steps for this.

To Install WhatsApp On Android Phone: -

Step 1: - Open the Play Store app on Mobile. 

Step 2: - Search by typing WhatsApp in the search box of Play Store app. 

Step 3: - Then the Install button appears. Tap on the Install option.

Step 4: - Then start installing. As can be seen in the picture below. 

Step 5: - Once installed, the app appears on the home screen of the mobile. 

This way you can install WhatsApp on your mobile phone.

How to create ID in WhatsApp?

Follow the steps below to create ID from WhatsApp on mobile.

Step 1: - Tap on WhatsApp and open it.

Step 2: - Tap on Agree and Continue. 

Step 3: - To verify phone no, keep your current mobile number.

Step 4: - After entering the phone no, tap on next button. 

Step 5: - Then see if the number is correct. If it is OK, tap on OK button. Say no by editing the Edit button. 

Step 6: - Then your mobile phone gets 6 digit code. Look at the code and write it down. 

Step 7: - Asks permission to access contacts, photos and other media on your mobile phone. Tap the Continue button.   

Step 8: - Skip it. 

Step 9: - Write your name. Tap a picture that looks like a camera to upload a profile photo.

Step 10: - If you do not have photos in your mobile gallery, tap on Camera option to keep the photo from the camera. If there are photos then tap on Galery option. 

Step 11: - After tapping on Gallery, select one of the photos and tap on that photo. 

Step 12: - Crop the unnecessary photo part as required. 

Step 13: - WhatsApp profile appears after your account. 

You can successfully sign up or login by installing WhatsApp on Android phone.

How to download, install and use WhatsApp on computer: -

Step 1: - Open the web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, Mozilla firefox) on the computer.

Step 2: - Type https://www.whatsapp.com/download in web address bar and press enter button. 

Step 3: - Then whatsapp website opens. Now you can click on Download for windows options on that page. 

Step 4: - 138 MB WhatsApp file download starts in the browser. 

Step 5: - After downloading, go to download folder of computer. 

Step 5: - Double click on the file as shown in the picture above.

Then whatsapp starts installing. Once the software is installed, you can see the icon of the software on the desktop screen. 

To use WhatsApp on your computer you need to do as shown in the picture below.

Step 1: - Open the software. 

Step 2: - Open WhatsApp on Mobile. 

Step 3: - Tap on Menu. 

Step 4: - Then go to Linked Devices. 

Step 5: - Then go to Link a Device. 

Step 6: - Tap on OK button. Then the camera on your mobile opens.     

Step 7: - Scan the QR Code of WhatsApp software that you have installed on your computer. After scanning, login to WhatsApp and the Dashboard opens. 

This way you can successfully use WhatsApp even on computer using the above mentioned method.

How to make audio and video calls from WhatsApp?

You can make audio and video calls with friends / relatives from this app. I have presented the following steps for this.

Step 1: - Open WhatsApp on your mobile screen. 

Step 2: - You see WhatsApp Dashboard. You can see three tabs Chats, Status, Calls. The Chat tab displays a list of people you've chatted with. If you need to chat with other people, tap Search. 

Step 3: - In order to chat on WhatsApp, people who want to chat need to install WhatsApp and create an ID. Cannot chat without ID. You need to save the number of the person you want to chat to in your mobile contacts. Then tap the name of the person you want to chat in WhatsApp search and tap. 

Step 4: - Then the chat box opens. Now you can have audio, video chat, message, send file with yourself.

For Audio Chat, tap the image that looks like Phone in the upper right of the chat box.

For video chat, tap the image that looks like a video shoot next to the phone icon at the top right of the chat box. 

To send a message, type something in the last message box and tap on the send button. 

If you want to attach a file, click on the Attach icon that appears after the message, select the document and tap on the Send button.

This way you can easily send chatting, message, even file with friends and relatives connected to WhatsApp from WhatsApp.

How to send messages and files to friends / relatives from WhatsApp?

You can also send messages and files with friends / relatives from this app. I have presented the following steps for this.

Step 1: - Open WhatsApp on your mobile screen. 

Step 2: - You see WhatsApp Dashboard. Tap Search. 

Step 3: - In order to chat on WhatsApp, people who want to chat need to install WhatsApp and create an ID. Cannot chat without ID. You need to save the number of the person you want to chat to in your mobile contacts. Then tap the name of the person you want to chat in WhatsApp search and tap. 

Step 4: - Then the chat box opens. Now you can have audio, video chat, message, send file with yourself.

To send a message, type something in the last message box and tap on the send button. 

Step 5: - If you need to attach a file, tap on the Attach icon that appears after the message. Then you see the options as shown in the picture below.

What kind of document do you want to send?

If it is a photo, tap on Gallery.

If it is a PDF, Image, MP3 file then tap on Document.

If you need to send a photo immediately, tap on Camera.

If you need to send an audio, tap on Audio. I'd like to send a PDF file here. So I tap on Document. 

Step 6: - Tap on Browse other docs. 

Step 7: - Now select the file you want to send and tap on that file. 

Step 8: - Tap on Send Button. 

After you upload the message as well as the file you sent, it reaches the person you sent it to. 

This way you can easily send chatting, messages and even files with friends and relatives who are connected to WhatsApp from WhatsApp.
