Twitter: An Introduction

Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone and Evan Williams. Twitter is also a social network like Facebook. It is an app that gives users a platform to share their thoughts, news, information and jokes. But one of their limitations is that you can only write limited letters in it. Whatever information is on Twitter, it should not be too big and explanatory, but short and informative.

Twitter is a US social networking service that allows users to post "tweets" via messages. Registered users can post, like and retweet tweets here, but only unregistered users can read on Twitter.

In this chapter, I have presented the information required for using Twitter on mobile phone or computer.


How to download the Twitter app on a smartphone
The Twitter app can be downloaded and used on Android and Apple phones. I have presented the following for Soka.
To download and install the Twitter app on Android Phone: -
Step 1: - Open the Playstore app on Mobile. 
Step 2: - Search by typing Twitter app in the search box of Playstore app. 
Step 3: - Tap on Install. 
Step 4: - Then start installing. 
Step 5: - Once installed, the app appears on the home screen of the mobile. 
Step 6: - Open the twitter app. 
This way you can successfully sign up or login by installing twitter app on android phone.
How to open a Twitter website on a computer: -
Step 1: - Open the web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, Mozilla firefox) on the computer.
Step 2: Type twitter.com in the web address bar and press Enter.
 

Step 3: - Then the homepage of twitter opens. Now you have to go to Sign up to create an account on that page. After creating an account, you can use twitter.
How to create a Twitter Account?
Requires twitter account to run twitter. You can create a twitter account using your smartphone and computer. Creating an account is like signing up for an account. Everyone has the same method. I have presented the following methods for creating twitter account on all those devices.
How to create a twitter account on an Android phone?
Step 1: - Open the Twitter app. 
Step 2: - Click on Create account.
Your details name, phone no. And click on the Next button with the date of birth.  
Step 3: - Then click on Sign up button. 
Step 4: - Then you have to verify your phone. Tap on the OK button. 
Step 5: - A code comes in the form of message on your phone, write that code here. 
Step 6: - Then you have to keep the password for twitter account login. Password can be 8 characters or more. Then tap on Next button. 
Step 7: - Now you have to keep the profile picture as seen in the picture below. For that, tab on the Upload button. 
Step 8: - Then two ways can be used to keep your photo. If you click on Take photo, the camera will open at the same time and the photo taken in the profile picture will be uploaded. From Choose existing photo you can select the photo on mobile and upload it to profile picture. Here I tap on choose existing photo. 
Step 9: - Then select the photos on your mobile phone. 
Step 10: - Crop the image and tap on Apply button. 
Step 11: - Photos on your mobile should be allowed to be accessed by Twitter. For that, tab on allow. 
Step 12: - Then click on Next button. 
Step 13: - Now you need to know some general information about yourself. Then click on Next button. 
Step 14: - Now you have to choose twitter username. This name can be used to search from twitter search box and is also used for other purposes. 
Step 15: - You can sync the twitter account related to the contacts of the people on your phone. By doing this, the twitter account of those people appears on your phone and you can follow those people. But now I go to Not now. 
Step 16: - Then you select the interests shown in the picture below and on your mobile and tap on Next button. 
Step 17: - Now you can view people's accounts on mobile. Follow the accounts of those people and tap on Next button. After doing this, those people will see tweets on your twitter timeline. 
Step 18: - Once your details are registered on the Twitter website, the Twitter Account (ID) is created. 
This way you can successfully sign up or login by creating ID in twitter app on android phone using the method mentioned above.
How to create twitter account (ID) on computer: -
Step 1: - Open the web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, Mozilla firefox) on the computer.
Step 2: - Type twitter.com in the web address bar and press enter button. 
Step 3: - Then the homepage of twitter opens. Now click on Sign up with phone or email to create an account on that page.
Write down your details name, phone number, date of birth etc. Then click on Next button.

Step 5: - If the details are different then click on the truth Sign Up button.

How to update profile on Twitter?
After creating an account, your main task now is to update your own profile. You need to keep the rest of the details in your profile. I have presented the following for Soka.
How to update profile from Android phone: -
Step 1: - After opening the Twitter app, tap on your profile picture at the top left. 
Step 2: - Then the menu options of twitter appear. From the options that appear, tap on Profile. 
Step 3: - Then your profile in twitter account opens. Tap Edit profile to update that profile. 
Step 4: - You can update the details in your profile and tab on the Save button. This way you can update your profile. 
How to update twitter profile from computer: -
Step 1: - Login to Twitter.
Step 2: - Click on the Profile option in the left side menu of Twitter. 
Step 3: - Click on Edit profile button. 
Step 4: - The details you kept are displayed. Update details that need to be updated. Then click on the Save button. You can even change the profile and cover photo. 
After saving, you can see the details have been updated. This way you can successfully update your details on Twitter.
How to tweet on Twitter?
After creating an account on Twitter, you can now follow friends and anyone on Twitter. You can tweet your thoughts. Use the following method to tweet.
How to tweet from Android phone: -
Step 1: - Open the Twitter app.
Step 2: - Then tap on the Plus image at the bottom right of the app. 
Step 3: - Tap on the image that looks like a bird's wing on the right side of the tweet. 
Step 4: - Then choose the photo What's happening? Write something you need to tweet and tap on the Tweet button. 
Step 5: - Then you can see the tweet in your profile. 
How to tweet from computer?: -
Step 1: - Login to Twitter.
Step 2: - Click on What's happening option. 
Step 3: - To share information (Tweet) to your Twitter followers, type the information and click on Tweet button. 
Step 4: - After clicking on the Tweet button, you can see that the tweet has been shared on your profile.

How to Search and Follow People on Twitter?
Once you have created a twitter account, your account is initially empty. Now you need to increase your activity on twitter. Activity means you have to follow people on twitter, like, reply, retweet and share tweets as well as understand other activities.

How To Follow People Using Android Phone: -
Step 1: - Open the Twitter app.
Step 2: - Then tap on the Search button at the end of the app. 
Step 3: - Write the name of the person to be searched on Twitter at the top.

Step 5: - That person's profile opens and you can follow that person. Then the information that the person tweeted also appears in your timeline.

Step 1: - Login to Twitter.

Step 1: - Open the Twitter app.
Step 2: - Open the tweet seen on Twitter. In which you want to like, reply, share or retweet. 
Step 3: - If you tap on the picture that looks like heart in the picture above, the like will increase, if you tap on the picture that looks like callout, you can reply to that tweet Can be shared on other social media networks.
To reply to a tweet, do the following.
Step 1: - Tap on the picture that looks like Callout.
Step 2: - Write reply to the tweet and tap on Reply button. 
Step 3: - This is how you reply to the bottom of the tweet. 
To retweet, do the following.
Step 1: - Tap on the picture which looks like Arrow.
Step 2: - Then tap on Retweet. 
Step 3: - The retweeted tweet will appear on your profile. 
Step 4: - To like a tweet, you can like it by tapping on the picture that looks like heart. 
To share a tweet, do the following.
Step 1: - Tap on Share button.
Step 2: - Then you can share the tweet on social media sites seen on mobile. For that, you have to tap on the app of those sites and share. 
How to Like, Reply and Share Tweets Using Computer: -
Step 1: - Open Twitter.com and Login.
Step 2: - Open your Twitter account. In which you can see the tweets of people. 
Step 3: - To like the tweet, you have to click on the picture that looks like a heart towards the end of the tweet (post). 
Step 4: - To reply to your tweet, you have to click on the picture which looks like callout towards the end of the tweet (post). 
Step 5: - Another window opens immediately after clicking. In that window you have to type something and click on Reply button. You can also send a photo file along with your reply. 
Step 6: - To share the tweets made by people, you have to click on the Share icon at the end of the tweet (post). 
Then you can see four options. You can copy the link and share it elsewhere or send it directly to your friends in a message.

How to view messages, notifications on Twitter?

Step 1: - Open the twitter app installed on your mobile and login.
Step 2: - After opening Twitter, tap on the image that looks like a bell at the end of the app. 
Step 3: - A list of notifications appears. You can see the information of the tweets made by the people who follow you.

Step 3: - If you have not sent the message yet, the following picture appears. Tap the Write a message button. 
Step 4: - Write the name of the person to whom you want to send the message and tap on the person's profile. 
Step 5: - After tapping, tap on Next button.  
Step 6: - Tap on Start a message, type the message you want to send and tap on Send button. 
Step 7: - The message seems to be gone. Now the person you sent receives your message.

Step 1: - Login to Twitter.
Step 2: - Click on the messages option in the left side menu of Twitter. 
Step 3: - After clicking on the Message button, if you have not sent the message yet, you can see the following picture. Tap on Start a conversation or New message button. 
Step 4: - You see the profile photo of the person you want to send the message to. Click on Soma and click on Next button. 
Step 5: - Now you have to write a message by clicking on Start a new message box at the end of twitter. Compose a message and press enter button or click on Sent button.

How to change your Twitter account password?
You need to change your password from time to time to keep your twitter account secure. I have presented the following method for this. You must remember the old password to change it, otherwise you will not be able to enter a new password.
How to change password using Android phone: -
Step 1: - Open the Twitter app and login.
Step 2: - After opening Twitter, tap on your profile photo at the top left of the app. 
Step 3: - Tap on Settings and privacy button from the options shown. 
Step 4: - Tap on Your Account. 
Step 5: - Tap on Change your password. 
Step 6: - Enter current password and new password and tap on Update password button. 
Then your password changes. This way you can change the password by logging in to the mobile app twitter.
How to change password using computer: -
Step 1: - Login to Twitter.
Step 2: - Click on More option in the left side menu of Twitter. 
Step 3: - Click on Settins and privacy button from the open options. 
Step 4: - Under your account you can make various other settings related to your account. Click Change your password to change the password. 
Step 5: - Keep the current password and click on the Save button including the password you are trying to change. When entering passwords, follow the criteria set by Twitter. 
Your password then appears to have changed successfully. 
This way you can login to your computer and change the password as required.
How to recover a lost Twitter account password?
If you have lost your Twitter account password, you can retrieve your Twitter account password by following the steps below.
Step 1: - Open Twitter.com.
Step 2: - Click on Sign In button. 
Step 3: - Tap on Forgot password button. 
Step 4: - Enter your mobile number or email address or username registered on Twitter and tap on search button. 
 
Step 5: - The email account you have in your Twitter account appears. Select the account and tap on Next button. 
Step 6: - Then the code will come in your mail. Type in the code and tap on the verify button. 
 
Step 7: - After verifying, you have to enter the new password twice and tap on Reset password button. 
Step 8: - Select the appropriate reason to change the password and tap on Next button. 
Then your password changes. 
This way you can retrieve the forgotten twitter password using the mobile app.

Step 2: - Click on Sign in button. 
Step 3: - Another window opens. Click on the Forgot password button.

Step 5: - Then the email address you put in your Twitter account will appear. Select the account and click on Next button. The code is received in the mail. 
 
Step 6: - You should check the email linked to your Twitter account. In that mail you receive a code from the Twitter company. Type in the code and click on the Verify button. 
 
Step 7: - After verifying, you should enter new password twice and click on Reset password button.
